Luna Performing Arts is downtown Manhattan’s newest performing arts center! Launched in July 2019, we offer a wide array of dance and movement classes for both children and adults. Classes include Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Chinese Dance, and Story Time & Movement. Our space is also available for rental on a daily basis with accommodations for rehearsals, private lessons, fitness and wellness classes.
Our mission is to provide a space and outlet for growth, creativity, exploration, and expression to all members of the New York community. We are dedicated to offering quality programs that reflect the rich cultural heritage of New York City. We strive to build a community that will enable artists of all ages to feel welcomed, comfortable, and at home in our space.
OWNER / STUDIO DIRECTOR
Alanna Chan is a New York based actress and dancer with over 25 years of experience. She grew up training in Chinese Folk Dance, ballet, jazz, and hip hop at her local studio on Long Island, NY and furthered her training at the Joffrey Ballet School’s prestigious Jazz and Contemporary Program. At the age of 4, she booked her first national commercial for Tyson Chicken and it didn't stop there! Alanna is a member of SAG-AFTRA and can be seen on numerous advertisements, music videos, and television appearances. Her most recent work includes a FedEx commercial and an ad campaign for Fanta. She has had the privilege of performing on the stages at Lincoln Center, Metropolitan Museum of Art and in New York regional theaters.
As a dance educator, Alanna has had the honor of instructing at many studios throughout New York City and the tri-state area. Her approach to dance education has always set her apart from others. She personalizes each of her classes to the needs and goals of her students. Her individualized approach to teaching allows for personal growth and for each student to reach their full creative potential. Alanna focuses on developing a strong technical foundation but always encourages exploration of movement and freedom of expression. Alanna is excited to share her passion for performance and dance education to the Tribeca community!
Briana "BB" Stone is an NYC based dancer, singer and actor born and raised in Greensboro, NC. She is a recent graduate of the prestigious Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment at Oklahoma City University with a Bachelor’s of Performing Arts in Dance Performance. She grew up dancing at On Stage School of Dance from the age of two, and attended William Penn-Alfred J Griffin School for the Arts for middle and high school. BB attended training programs at the Governor’s School of North Carolina, UNCSA, and Broadway Workshop. Instead of having a traditional senior year of high school, BB had the opportunity of a lifetime to attend the Joffrey Ballet School’s Jazz and Contemporary Trainee Program in NYC. BB has been a featured performer in the American Spirit Dance Company at OCU, and has performed professionally at regional theaters in Austin, TX and Flat Rock, NC. BB made her choreographic debut at Flat Rock Playhouse for the showcase, Apprentices Unplugged, and choreographed for the annual Student Choreography Show, Set A Fire, at OCU in 2019. BB is thrilled to teach at Luna Performing Arts in NYC to share her passion for dance with the next generation!
MIA VENTURA LUCAS
Mia Ventura Lucas is a Portuguese actor, singer & writer based in New York. She has worked in three different countries and at the age of only 13 she initiated her musical theatre training at the West End stage in London. Initially, she performed in Portugal & Europe as a fado singer, eventually moving to Oxford , UK to take a BA in Film Studies & Drama. During that time, Mia was a member of Oxford University's most prestigious all-female acapella group, being a Voice Festival UK finalist and a performer at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In that same year, Mia was granted a merit scholarship to train at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. Since then, she has worked on multiple shows & films, among which, the off-Broadway ‘Lady power Project’, off-off Broadway ‘Potter’s Wheel’, and ‘Twelve Angry Women’, the National US Census Campaign, the single 'Joyce' by IMT, among other credits. In 2019 Mia debuted as a playwright, with ‘The Blue Hour’, based on suicide and mental health among college students. Mia was also the production coordinator of the 7th Edition of the Chelsea Film Festival 2019 (Top 10 USA film festivals) and in her free time she translates plays for TAS Theatre Company. Mia strives to work in socially conscious projects, particularly those which support women and charitable foundations.
Louis Hansen is a recent college graduate with a BFA in musical theatre from Lindenwood University. There he had the opportunities to choreograph and perform in their main stage shows and dance concerts. A few of his favorite credits include Bert in Mary Poppins and Brad in The Rocky Horror Show. Louis has also performed regionally at Flat Rock Playhouse where he was in the ensemble of South Pacific and All Shook Up. Theatre, dance and choreography are his passions and he looks forward to sharing these arts through Luna Performing Arts.
Sam Lobel is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer based in New York City. She has presented her work at the Young Choreographer’s Festival, On 1 Condition, NYC Choreographer’s Forum, APEX, Sybarite Love is Love, PMT Fall Dance Series, Think Tank the Showcase, DoubleTake Dance Gala and more. Sam is a Think Tank rising choreographer and she is a substitute jazz faculty member at PMT House of Dance. She is an assistant at Broadway Dance Center’s Children and Teen Program, and she teaches open classes for the Ballet Company at NYU and at studios around the city. She recently was the associate choreographer for Nicholas Palmquist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Gala, the Steps Professional Performance Workshop, and the Peridance Certificate Program. Sam creates a fun and engaging environment for kids of all ages to move! She focuses on coordination, balance, flexibility, learning and retaining choreography. She loves to teach and share her passion with others!
Sara Holmes is a New York City based dancer and instructor. Born and raised in Phoenix, AZ, she started dancing at the young age of 3 and found her passion. Upon graduating high school she furthered her education at the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment at Oklahoma City University as a Dance Performance major. Throughout her time at school Sara was a member of the American Spirit Dance Company where she performed in the annual Home for the Holidays show and spring show, was a member of the OCU Pep Dancers, and choreographed for the show entitled We Run the Night. Sara has continued her training at renowned studios in New York and Los Angeles. She has attended the Invitational Week of the Rockette Summer Intensive dance program and is a graduate of the Summer Professional Semester at Broadway Dance Center. She has also performed at the annual Mary Kay Convention held in Dallas, TX. Additionally, Sara is a certified Barre instructor and loves to instill her passion for dance and fitness to students of all ages. Her classes are fun and engaging with a focus on technique and personal growth! She is so excited to be joining the Luna Performing Arts team to share her knowledge and passion with others!
Sasha Williams is a recent graduate of The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. As a trained actor living and working in New York City, she has attended acting competitions such as IMTA, starred in local web series and most recently been cast in a horror film. When she’s not acting- she’s singing, writing or dancing! Sasha is passionate about theater and arts and to be apart of the Luna Performing Arts team!
Originally from Canada, Rachel began dancing at a young age and trained at Canada’s National Ballet School and Goh Ballet. At 16, she was accepted at the prestigious Joffrey Ballet School in New York City. There, she became a member of the Joffrey Concert Group- touring the US and performing works by world renowned choreographers. Rachel then went on to complete the 2 year Alonzo King Lines Ballet Training Program in San Francisco. Sponsored by Pushing Progress Contemporary Dance, Rachel returned to New York and worked with numerous NYC based companies and choreographers. Rachel Is a sought after instructor- teaching ballet, contemporary and creative movement to ages 18 months- 18 at various studios across the tri-state area and in NYC public schools. Rachel also holds a certificate in therapeutic dance, and teaches dance to pediatric patients at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. She is thrilled to join Luna Performing Arts as an instructor and looks forward to sharing her passion for dance with the next generation!
